As I start my first days here at Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, I want to reach out and tell you just how excited I am to be joining this important work, reaching those that are vulnerable and in need. It is truly an honor to come beside the volunteers and staff members who make a difference each day for people in our communities.
Beginning a new job, especially one with an organization of this size and depth, is daunting to say the least. It is my intent to spend my first few weeks getting to know the history, culture, programs and heart of the organization. I will be setting up a "tour" through all of the programs, so that I can experience our work firsthand. I also will be reviewing our contracts and agreements, getting to know our Board of Directors, and learning about and meeting the individuals and congregations that partner with our work through their gifts of time and financial support.
