LSS-SW Family Resource Centers

Ninety percent of a child’s brain develops during the first five years. Studies show that children exposed to high quality early childhood experiences develop stronger language, math and social skills. LSS-SW Family Resource Centers helps parents build a strong foundation for their children, helping to ensure they are ready for school and ready for life.

Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest Family Resource Centers, in partnership with First Things First, provide families with children birth to five years old access to information and links to the resources they need to be confident and capable in their ability to support their child’s safety, health and overall well-being.

Services offered include child & parent workshops, resource & referral, developmental screenings, parenting education, coaching, and support.  We also offer assistance completing SNAP and AHCCCS applications in the comfort of our offices.

Child & Parent Activities

LSS-SW builds self-reliant foundations for children to thrive through a range of fun and educational activities designed for children birth to five (and their parents!) Check our Facebook page for a current schedule of events or click below to download our July schedule!

A few of our ongoing popular offerings include:

Messy Play - Hands-on interactive activities for children. Child can explore different textures, smells, and temperatures of materials and get messy in the process. Some of our most popular activities include shaving cream and homemade slime.

Kids in the Kitchen - A parent-child cooking class. Children will be introduced to simple step recipes that they can easily cut, chop, and layer. If you have a picky eater this is a good way to introduce them to foods they may not eat at home

Little Rembrandts - A workshop that introduces children to art techniques. Every month we focus on a different art project that will strengthen their knowledge of art. This includes sculpture, printing, free-hand art, and painting.
