Thank you for your interest in supporting Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest! We are humbled that you have selected to learn more about us, given that there are so many wonderful nonprofits participating! We are proud to be a partner of the Southern Arizona Charitable Tax Credit Coalition.
How does my donation build a better Tucson?
LSS Southwest has been working in Tucson since 1974, when we purchased a specially equipped van to transport older adults and individuals with disabilities in the Tucson area.
Today, we have several programs that operate in Tucson. Our refugee focus programs resettles over 300 newly arrived refugees each year in Pima County. Our Pima County Meals on Wheels delivers over 90,000 meals to housebound seniors. Our Luminaria Home Care program helps low-income older adults live at home and maintain independence. Our Family HOMES program places foster children and adults with disabilities in safe and loving homes. Also new this year, we recently opened CENTER, a hub for refugee students and educators to come together.
How does the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit work?
The Credit for Donations Made to Qualifying Charitable Organizations is a dollar-for-dollar charitable contribution you can give to 501(c)(3) corporations (nonprofits). With this tax credit you can receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, up to $400 filing single or $800 if filing a joint return, on your state income taxes while helping those in need – at no additional cost to you. View our Tax Credit resource page here for answers to your common questions.
Although I am making this donation because there is a tax incentive, I'd like to feel good about choosing LSS Southwest.
We are grateful that you would consider us. LSS Southwest is known for 3 things:
- Grace - giving without expectation of receiving anything in return, to people of all faiths.
- Longevity - we do not provide services because they are trendy or popular. We keep giving them because there is a need.
- Empowerment - our services help Arizonans move through difficult circumstances. We work with our clients to ensure that they are self-sufficient in the longterm.
We invite you to become a tax credit donor and become a part of our family. We have many opportunities to get more deeply involved, should you choose.
